During these hot days, students have worked together to arrange a variety of recess and lunch activities. They were put into small multi-aged groups to plan, organise and roll out the activity that they chose. They then compiled a list of items they would need, either prizes or resources etc. and made phone calls to local business’ collecting the best price, budgeting for the amount of money they were allocated.  Students then went shopping to purchase their items using their money handling skills. The money used was from the profits raised from selling crunchas during lunchtimes.

Wet and Wild:

Unfortunately we didn’t get a photo - but Mrs. Lever had fun today getting Terrin, Jack, Andrew, Shania and Sam very wet! Pay back from the family BBQ night!

Today we also had the sprinklers on playing Octopus. The teachers then gathered the kids and played poison ball - modified! The balls were water balloons! All activities were carried out on lawn and grass areas.

On Wednesday the Prep/One/Two’s, Miss Price, Mrs Aitken and Mrs Lever had a big day out!  We started off with a performance at the Arts Centre called ‘The Jungle Book.’  Some people’s favourite part, and some people’s least favourite part was when the Jackal squirted the audience with a water pistol!  They threw snakes at us too…lucky they were toys!

After recess on the Arts Centre Lawns we toured insde Rio Vista House, one of the oldest houses in Mildura and home to the Chaffey family.  We also had a great time exploring the Old Mildura Homestead and playing at Parks For Play.  However, we were relieved to return to our air conditioned classroom to cool down!

On Thursday October 15, grade 3/4 enjoyed a surprise visit from local WIN TV journalist Amy Marshall. Amy spoke to the class about her exciting profession as a newspaper and television journalist. The class worked with Amy to discover how photographs, headlines and articles work together to capture our attention and provide interesting information, facts and opinions.

Amy gave the children lots of great tips for researching a topic and writing an exciting article.

Mr. Mac has been travelling around England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland as well as parts of Europe over the past few weeks. He is thouroughly enjoying the trip and at the time of this post is in Italy.

On Friday, Mrs Stone organised a Footy Colours day.  We got to dress in our team’s colours.  We did all sorts of Literacy and Numeracy activities, including a graph of the different footy supporters at our school…Carlton was the most popular team!  Mr Thomas from Red Cliffs S.C. and some of his Year 10 students put on a clinic for us which was lots of fun.  Thanks to Mr Thomas and his students for taking the time to come to our school.  Also, thanks to Mrs Stone for organising the day.

Thursday 3rd September saw Koorlong P.S. join with Sunnycliffs P.S. to Nangiloc Colignan P.S. for Book Day.

Book Day takes place to help celebrate Literacy/Numeracy Day. The event is organised by our MARC Van teacher Marg Pongrac.

Teachers organise activities related to the book they read.

All students played with beautigul social skills. The day brought, Sun, rain and hail! The theme was Safari. Check out the brilliant costumes by some of our students.

On Friday 31st July was National School Tree Planting Day.

During this day students planted trees and learnt the importance of which breeds to plant where and why.

On Friday 20th August we had a visit from Mop Aitken, who proudly showed off his 2009 Custom Sportster 883 Harley Davison Motorbike.

Staff and kids were in awe of the power, noise and shine of such a slick machine!

On Thursday 23rd July we had a guest artist by the name of Annalise Rees.

Annalise is an Adelaide artist that uses recycled and found materials to create models of domestic spaces.
